Six road names will come in the first release: Burlington Northern, Chesapeake & Ohio, Erie Lackawanna, The Milwaukee Road, Santa Fe, and Southern Pacific. This all-new model will include road-specific details on its shell and will come equipped with a five-pole, skew-wound, high-torque, and high-efficiency can motor with flywheel.

Menards recently introduced a tank car and hopper car to its collection of O-gauge trains. The tank car is a threedome example consisting of a sturdy molded plastic tank screw-mounted to its plastic frame. The new Menards hopper car is a fourbay open example with coal load.

Today, a wide-range of “Dash 2” EMD diesels are available to the hobbyist, but in 1976 — just four years following the introduction of these prototypes — only Life-Like’s GP38-2 made up the plastic HO “Dash 2” diesel market.
