Menards adds freight cars to O-gauge line

Menards recently introduced a tank car and hopper car to its collection of O-gauge trains. The tank car is a threedome example consisting of a sturdy molded plastic tank screw-mounted to its plastic frame. Separately applied metal handrails run around the tank with metal ladders mounted on each side at the center dome. Triangular hazardous material placards are present on all sides of this model, complete with red warning labeling. Menards’ O-gauge tank car rides on metal wheels, and the car includes metal working knuckle couplers. Selling for $19.99, this new tank car comes in a variety of eye-catching road names, including Alaska Railroad, Chicago & North Western/Union Pacific, Great Northern, Santa Fe, and Wisconsin Central. A set of eight tank cars with the same road name but individual road number on each model sells for $139.92.

Menards Hopper Car

The new Menards hopper car is a fourbay open example with coal load. The hopper, underframe, and simulated coal load are injection-molded plastic. The car includes separately applied brake wheel, rides on metal wheels, and includes metal working knuckle couplers. The hopper sells for $19.99 in singles or you may purchase an 8-pack for $139.92. Similar to Menards’ tank car offerings, individual and unique road numbers come on all models.
