Sunset’s Legends series launches with Southern Pacific’s P-8 and P-10 class 4-6-2 Pacific-type steam locomotives. Three versions are included in the announcement: P-8 No. 2467, P-10 No. 2487, and Daylight scheme P-10 No. 2485. The P-10 details will present SP’s skyline casing over the top of the boiler section. Additional details will include operating cab roof vents, tender water and oil hatches, operating cab aprons, and fully detailed and decorated cab interiors with painted handles and dials.

Many of the Pacifics were built by Baldwin in the 1920s for passenger service between Ogden, Utah, and Oakland, California. When larger and more powerful 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotives replaced Pacifics on long runs, the 4-6-2s were relegated to local service between San Francisco and San Jose.
