Atlas O delivers new run for Trainman 4750s

O ScaleAtlas O’s Trainman series recent delivered a production of Pullman-Standard PS-2 covered hopper cars in O scale. The model reproduces the very popular 4,750 cubic foot, three-bay freight car introduced in the early 1970s.

For this offering, you’ll find four new paint schemes: BNSF (brown with white lettering), Delaware & Hudson (red with yellow lettering), The Milwaukee Road (yellow with black lettering), and Union Pacific (gray with black lettering and separate “Sugar” emblem billboard). Returning in this release is Illinois Central Gulf (shown above) and Soo Line (white with green lettering).

ABOVE: This is Atlas O’s 3-rail version Trainman 4750 covered hopper model decorated for Illinois Central Gulf. This version comes with deep-flange metal wheels and working articulated knuckle couplers.

This fully assembled O-scale covered hopper is provided for the Trainmain series in two versions. You can purchase a 2-rail edition of this covered hopper with 36-inch wheels and body-mounted knuckle couplers, which carries a $65.95 suggested retail price. Atlas offers this same freight car with 3-rail setup with die-cast trucks and operating articulated couplers. The 3-rail version includes the manufacturer’s Adjust-A-Coupler system, allowing for easy conversion to truck-mounted scale knuckle couplers. This covered hopper is recommended for use on 36-inch curves (2-rail) and O36 curves (3-rail). Visit Atlas online for more information on this and other Trainmain releases.
