LGB G-scale Amtrak switcher comes equipped with DCC and sound

G Scale

LGB offers a side-rod diesel switcher locomotive decorated for Amtrak (27632). The assembled G-scale model is decorated in Platinum Mist with black roof and features Amtrak’s Phase III livery striping. The locomotive’s road number, 1971, highlights the first year this U.S. rail passenger carrier operated.

The model includes working lights, and comes equipped with Digital Command Control and sound output. LGB’s Amtrak switcher is shown serving in a track work assignment. The 50-foot exterior-post boxcars shown are LGB offerings in G scale and are inspired by Amtrak’s material handling cars.

Due soon from LGB is a G-scale Amtrak set powered by F-units and featuring heritage smooth-side passenger cars. The releases will include F7A and F7B diesel locomotives with baggage, coach, dome, and observation passenger car models. This sleek G-scale streamliner set will be offered in Amtrak’s early 1970s or Phase I livery. Watch for reviews of these G-scale giants in the pages of Model Railroad News.
