Rapido Trains announces all-new GP38 model for HO scale, plus M-420 variants, and Hudson steam

HO ScaleRapido Trains wowed the hobby again this Christmas with announcements of several new projects. Electro-Motive Division’s (EMD) GP38 diesel locomotive will join Rapido Trains line of high-quality HO-scale reproductions. The first release will provide GP38s from EMD’s later production (around 1970) and you can reserve Santa Fe, Penn Central (shown above), and other road names now. This model will be HO’s first high-end, road-specific replica of EMD’s GP38.

Rapido Trains is making the requested BC Rail, Providence & Worcester, and later Canadian National M-420 (including the B-unit version) a conditional release. If enough reservations are achieved, these models will go into production for HO. The company also plans Canadian Pacific’s H1a/H1b Hudson steam locomotive for HO release.
