HO ScaleAtlas announces another all-new General Electric (GE) U-boat for its Master series of HO-scale releases. Joining the previously announced U28C and U28CG diesel locomotives, Atlas will produce GE’s early production U30C. Following its common practice of beginning a new U-boat line by putting the enhanced and higher horsepower innards in the body of the existing offering, GE’s U30C Phase I looks much like a U28C. Atlas has previously offered a Phase II U30C in its contemporary Master series of HO releases.

The debut production of HO-scale U30C Phase I diesel locomotives from Atlas will present six road names: Delaware & Hudson, Reading, Pennsylvania Railroad, Chessie System (C&O reporting marks), Seaboard Coast Line, and Conrail. Each road name will come with three road numbers.

Atlas will produce two U30C Phase I undecorated models (with and without nose headlight). This model will feature etched-metal grilles, many road-specific details (including several cab variations, headlight, and nose light types), separately applied details will include grab irons and hoses on the pilots. The model will arrive fully assembled and equipped with metal knuckle couplers.

Atlas will offer its standard DC model as a “Silver Sound Ready” offering with factory-installed speaker making for an easy conversion to Digital Command Control (DCC) operation with only a decoder required that will plug into the provided 21-pin socket. Atlas’ Gold U30C Phase I will come with ESU-made DCC decoder and sound system. Atlas plans to deliver its initial production of HO-scale Master U30C Phase I diesel locomotives later this year.
