HO ScaleGeneral Motors was the first of American auto makers to downsize it’s full-size vehicles. Introduced in fall 1976, the 1977 Chevrolet Caprice and Impala presented a smaller car (116-inch wheelbase matching what was the line’s then mid-size platform) designed to appeal to those with an eye on gas economy. In addition to being shorter, this third generation (1977–1990) B-body run of Chevys weighed in at as much as 900 pounds lighter than predecessors.
