Kato’s past SD70ACe diesel locomotive releases for its N-scale model have included Union Pacific’s (UP) “The Spirit of the Union Pacific” and George Bush Library and Museum special paint schemes. Now, the hobby manufacturer offers UP 1111 with its intricate and multicolor livery dubbed “Powered By Our People” roster member.
This one-of-a-kind decoration came about from a systemwide online employee vote conducted by the railroad.
A dozen employees worked to bring the design to reality at UP’s Jenks Shop in North Little Rock, Ark. The special road number 1111 represents UP goals of being number one in railroads, employees, safety dedication, and vision as part of the “Building America” slogan and campaign.
