Pennsylvania Railroad’s The General is next Walthers “name train” series

HO Scale

HO — Walthers turns its attention to another member of Pennsylvania Railroad’s (PRR) fleet of passenger trains with plans for a series of releases for The General. This service offered an economy alternative to PRR’s flagship Broadway Limited train, and Walthers will produce HO models presenting a 1960s era appearance for this New York to Chicago train.

Among the coming releases, The General will be powered by Pennsy E8 diesel locomotives to be offered in Proto-series releases. Passenger cars will include authentic recreations of American Car & Foundry, Budd, and Pullman-Standard prototypes, as well as express reefers and merchandise service boxcars. Walthers will offer passenger car set releases and the PRR merchandise service 40-foot X29b boxcar will be offered in a set of dozen with a N6b wood caboose. Look for Proto FP7/F7B offerings for use with PRR merchandise service express train consists. Two Walthers Cornerstone structure kits will be offered with this series of PRR The General releases, a brick station and brick interlocking tower are coming to complement this “name train” collection.
